Into October

We took the camper trailer up to Algonquin this weekend for our annual fall camping weekend and it continues to delight and amaze. "What's that, you're a little chilly? I'll just turn on the furnace!" "What's that, it's pouring rain for the second straight day and you don't feel like cooking outside? I'll just toss a frozen pizza in the oven!" "What's that, you need a moment to take deep breaths so you don't lose it on the three sweet dependents who you've been stuck inside a trailer with since it started raining an eternity ago? Just retire to your bedroom and pull the pocket doors for some privacy!" Well, that is until they figure out how to open the pocket doors back up, which is pretty quickly, since they're irritatingly intelligent. But anyways, you get the point. I love our new trailer. It's next trip will be a big one, since we've decided to drive to the Grand Canyon next spring. We spent a lot of time this weekend trying to think of all the tiny details we need to change (Velcro on the seat cushions so they stop falling down, etc. etc.) or update, but it's exciting to think about hitting the road on one of those great iconic family trips. Hopefully we survive all that quality family time, ha ha!

Brendan is doing great in Grade 1. He seems to be thriving on the homework and structure, and I get told on a regular basis now that I'm doing things wrong - "Mom, maybe French has changed since you were in school". His robust confidence will serve him well in his teens and adulthood, I'm sure. I'm just not sure I enjoy living with it in the mean time. The babies are growing and expanding at breakneck speed - big news - Heidi has learned to say Harrison! She has also started calling Sheepy  "Fishy" (you'll recall that she previously called Sheepy "Baby"). I think she must be some sort of creative genius. In any case, it's a bit of a miracle that she's calling Harrison "Harrison", so that's cool.

We are hosting the Cole clan for Thanksgiving this year, and John and Betty have even called dibs on sleeping in the trailer! Who knew when we bought the trailer that we'd actually bought a Bunkie?! Wait, if I admit that, do I have to start paying property tax on it? Hopefully none of my neighbours read this...

Better go before I incriminate myself any further. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone, if I don't get back to post September photos before then (highly possible)!
