Pictures of the Zoo and New Babies

Here are a few pictures of the day at the zoo. We found an amazing little classroom area tucked away in the Africa Pavillion to feed the twins in in the morning. Brendan was great, playing quietly with his cars while he waited. He was fascinated by a pair of wrestling otters, we watched these guys for nearly 15 mintues! The picture of Brendan and I was outside the newish Polar Bear area. They really are massive. I was in seventh heaven!

One Month Photos

So, as I settle into Monday morning this week, we enter a whole new era. Brendan is off at school, Rob is off doing errands (picking up a double wide twin-sized nursing pillow and more formula and soothers) and I am here at home with the twins. School seems to have gone great for Brendan on Friday. He came home with his own backpack, his beloved red baseball cap and someone else's sweater (we've sent it back with him today). He says it was fun, but he didn't like it. His first story off the bus was about a boy named Kevin who cried and cried because he wouldn't put the trains away. He claims he is not Kevin, but we'll have to check at Parent Teacher night. He seems to have avoided getting in trouble (he knocked a boy over when he was being a frog, his words, not mine, but didn't get a time out), he read Golilocks and the 3 Bears and ran out of juice at lunch time. This made him cry and cry he said. I sent the poor guy with 2 juice boxes! This morning he is going with a giant thermos full of juice to help avoid that problem. He wasn't keen on going this morning (translation; small scale tantrum), until he changed his mind and was very worried he would miss the bus. Some people are so inconsistant!

Had a little time last night to load photos off of the cameras, so it's time for another 5 or 6 part photo post. I will start with more pictures of Brendan's first day of kindergarten. We set up chairs at the end of the driveway to wait for the bus. I walked him on, and then he drove away, just like that! The final picture may be hard to see; we followed the bus to school and the last shot is of Brendan (all dressed in red) running across the playground towards the other kids. Seeing that made me feel much better!

Happy one month birthday

The twins are one month today. The days are long but the months are short! Here they are with a bear that I will try to pose them with each month. Heidi seems to be catching up to Harrison in length eh?

Sorry about the rotated picture, I can't edit the ones I post from the phone!

Brendans off to school

He did it! I'm blogging through my sniffles as I sit here on the front step in a bit of a daze. Brendan declared at 7:45 that "Brendans love school buses and getting blue presents " and was off and away 30 minutes later. He'd rejected the blue present payoff when we suggested it 3 days ago. We were very grateful for the change of heart. His bus driver seemed lovely and knew his name already.  The only real unpleasant shock was that the bus was completely empty except for one big kid in the back seat. My little Brendan, alone on a great big school bus. It drove back past our place 15 minutes later with a few more kids. We were still sitting on the front step wondering what to do next. I hope he sees lots of trains (there's a track by the school) today.

Brendans and the twins first trip to the zoo

Our first day trip, I used my mother's day present of gift certificates to the zoo yesterday.  It was fantastic and all children behaved amazingly! We were all beyond exhausted though. Brendans favourite was the camel.

Just hanging out

Letting the kids have some together time umswaddled in their crib. Planning on trying to have a couple of quiet days before brendans first day of kindergarten Friday.

Baby boom

We had a lovely visit from our friends Matt and Melissa and their boys peyton and baby Sam (pictured here and in last nights post). Sam is only 3 1/2 months and I can't believe kids grow as fast as they do! ! Our social gatherings certainly do have a different "flavour " now that many of our friends are moving into 2 kids territory and our neighbourhood has had a baby boom. I guess the only thing constant is change!

These guys grow up so fast!

Cottage Photos Part 6 (and final)

Little Brother and Little Sister

The twins have turned out to be surprisingly difficult to get a good picture of together. If one is awake, the other is often asleep, if one is happy, Harrison is usually raging. It rarely happens the other way round. Ah well, I've got a bit of time ahead of me to take cute "twin" photos I figure!

Cottage Photos Part 5

We have started religously placing Heidi and Harrison on their respective Pink and Blue blankets to keep them straight. As someone who once said rather uncharitable things about dressing my girl exclusively in pink, I certainly am eating a lot of crow. It just makes it so much easier, and it is darn cute!

Cottage Photos Part 3

Heidi has started to really wake up more in the last week, and we've discovered her giant eyes. They're a little unnerving when they're staring at you unblinking in the middle of the night. I still haven't gotten a good picture of "Old Man Harrison" doing his "worried" look. I'll have to work on that.

Cottage Photos Part 2

The Cottage Photo Post

Alright! I controlled myself to only 170 photos (post editing) this week, so that didn't take as long as I'd thought it might. That and the kids finally stopped eating for a few hours. They seem to sleep very soundly mid morning, the one time we don't necessarily feel like we need a nap. Clearly we will have to adjust our schedule to match theirs!

We had a good trip up to the cottage. We had to stop once; gone are the days when we can do a 2 hour drive in one shot. We are hoping to go up to Ripley (a 4 1/2 hour drive) for fall fair (the last weekend in September). It may take us 12 hours.

The cottage was just what we needed; no pressure to get dressed or feed ourselves. In fact, I even read a whole book while we were there! We ate a few meals out on the deck, got down to the dock a few times and had a lovely canoe ride, so it really did feel like we'd gotten in some quality cottage time (thanks to Bob and Gail and all their help).

Brendan continued to be an angel, playing on his own for hours crashing his trains in fiery wrecks. He had a great time fishing with Dad almost every day, and even caught his first fish! He goes off to Kindergarten on Friday (the 9th), although he is adamant that he is not going. This could be very interesting...

Enjoy the photos! I'm limited to 5 photos per post, so there will be five posts in a row...

I will let you be your own judge. The extreme close up of Harrison's right temple is proof (I believe) that in just the right light after a bath when his hair is at it's fuzziest his hair is a little tiny bit red. Rob is adamant that I'm wrong.

Home from the Cottage

Had a wonderful relaxing week at the cottage, and lasted till we had to go! Laundry was at a pretty dire point by the time we left though! The kids have indeed hit their growth spurt,  eating every 2 hours sometimes so we feel a little spun at times. Today's project is to try and move the weeks picture to the computer to upload.  That, and brush my teeth.
